Australian Curriculum: Digital Technologies

 

Australian Curriculum: Key Ideas

 

 

(ACTDIK007) - Identify and explore a range of digital systems with peripheral devices for different purposes, and transmit different types of data (Australian Curriculum, 2016)

 

(ACTDIP009) - Collect, access and present different types of data using simple software to create information and solve problems (Australian Curriculum, 2016).

This page has been designed for year 3 and 4 students. Students are able to develop a sound knowledge and understanding of collecting data and graphing data appropriately in a bar graph.

 

This unit focuses on the animal and plant adaptations which could also align with science curriculum. The concept of graphing could also align with mathematical curriculum. This unit focuses on a key ideas including Information and communication technology in the Australian Curriculum. Students develop explicit knowledge, understanding and skills relating to operating and managing ICT. This unit integrates a number of general capabilities including Information and Communication Technology (ICT) capability. Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Capabilities are catered for through students selecting and using hardware and software, understand ICT systems, and generating and accessing data and information. Critical and Creative will be catered for through identifying and clarifying information and organising and processing information (Australian Curriculum, 2016). 

 

Differentiations will be made in regards to being sensitive to the financial, family, and cultural statuses that may affect a range of students that may take part in the unit in the future. A range of learning styles will also be taken into account when collecting and displaying data. This unit also facilitates for students with different learning styles through using a number of visual, auditory and written resources used throughout the unit.

 

  • Lessons are approximately 60 minutes long.

 

  • Students have no prior knowledge of graphing or plant and animal adaptations.

 

  • This unit is designed to be completed collaboratively and interactively, but students should also keep a work book with the information, sheets and their findings noted.
